Getting started
How do I join my organization?
Your program lead will give you an organization code (a short code like ABC-M123). Open the app, enter it on the first screen, and you'll land on your organization's sign-in page. From there you can sign in with email or a social account.
I'm starting a brand-new organization. Where do I begin?
Tap "Start a new organization" on the welcome screen, sign up with email or a social account, then pick the type of program you're running (tutoring, mentoring, volunteering, or Other). You'll get two invite codes, one for staff/mentors, one for students — to share with your people.
What's the difference between the tutor code and the student code?
The tutor/member code is for staff, mentors, and admins. The student code is for the students or mentees your organization serves. Both are on your Organization Settings page, and you can tap either to copy it or share it as an image.
Account & sign-in
I didn't get my verification code email.
Check your spam folder for an email from no-reply@alloymentors.com. If it's not there after a few minutes, go back and request a new code. Codes expire after a short window for security.
Can I use Face ID or a fingerprint to open the app?
Yes. In Settings, turn on "Require Face ID / Touch ID to open." Once enabled, you'll need to authenticate every time the app returns from the background.
How do I change my email or delete my account?
Both are in Settings under your profile. Deleting your account removes your personal data from Alloy Mentors; your organization's records (like attendance history) stay intact for the organization's leadership.
Sessions, RSVPs & check-in
How does check-in work?
If your organization has check-in enabled, each member gets a personal QR code (under "My QR"). Leaders scan it (or open kiosk mode for a self-serve check-in station) to log attendance and hours automatically.
How do I RSVP to a session?
Open the Calendar tab, tap a session, and mark yourself as going or not going. Leaders can see a live count of who's confirmed for each session.
Can I export the calendar to my phone's calendar app?
Yes. From the Calendar tab, use the export/share action to save sessions as a standard .ics file you can import anywhere.
Hours & certificates
How are volunteer hours tracked?
Hours are logged per session (automatically via check-in, or manually if your organization allows it) and approved by leadership. Approved hours count toward your total.
Can I get official proof of my hours for school, court, or a scholarship?
Yes. From your profile, generate a Certificate of Volunteer Hours: a signed PDF with your total verified hours, the date range, and your organization's authorization.
Chat & safety
Who can see messages in the organization chat?
Organization-wide channels are visible to everyone in your org. Direct messages are private between participants, but leadership can review flagged conversations if a safety concern is reported.
How do I report or block someone?
Open the conversation, tap the menu in the top right, and choose Report or Block. Reports go to your organization's leadership for review.
Can I share photos in chat?
Yes, using the image icon next to the message box. Shared images are visible only to participants in that conversation.
Notifications
I'm not getting push notifications.
Check that notifications are enabled both in the app (Settings → Notifications) and in your phone's system settings for Alloy Mentors. If you denied the permission when first asked, you'll need to re-enable it from your device's Settings app.
Billing
How much does Alloy Mentors cost?
Alloy Mentors is $2.99–$4.99, billed through the App Store. See the Pricing page for what's included.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are handled by the App Store. Manage or cancel yours in your Apple account settings, the same as any other app.
